Continuing Medical Education

The Eye Foundation of Kansas City is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to sponsor CME credits (Category 1 and Category 2) for physicians. Since receiving accreditation in 1992, the Eye Foundation has sponsored major Category 1 educational activities in the fields of glaucoma, ocular trauma, macular diseases and photorefractive surgery. The Eye Foundation also sponsors Category 2 activities for the benefit of local and regional ophthalmologists. These activities include a basic and clinical science course (the Midwest Curriculum in Ophthalmology) and a continuing series of monthly Grand Rounds.

The educational goals are to introduce program participants to newer technologies and to provide an opportunity to enhance or develop skills appropriate to ophthalmological practice. While the target audience for most programs is ophthalmologists, some educational programs may also be appropriate for allied health care personnel. These educational opportunities will take the form of seminars, grand rounds, symposia, workshops, conferences and hands-on courses.
